Privacy Policy – Afterglow

Last updated: 6 July 2026

Afterglow is a private app for personally logging intimacy and sexuality. Protecting your data is the core of the app. This policy explains what data is processed and how.

The short version

Data you enter

You can record entries (e.g. date, activities, positions, places, mood, notes), partner profiles, photos/videos and wishlist items. This is stored locally in a database on your device. Photos and videos are kept in an encrypted vault on the device. We never have access to any of it.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

The Apple Health connection is optional and off by default. If you enable it in Settings and grant permission:

Once written, these Health samples are governed by Apple Health and your iCloud settings. Afterglow does not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing or data-mining.

Backups

You can manually export an encrypted backup of your data. Where that file is saved or shared is entirely your choice. Unless you share it yourself, it does not leave your device through the app.

Security

Afterglow offers an app lock via passcode or Face ID / Touch ID. Photos and videos are stored encrypted. The passcode is stored securely in the iOS Keychain. For security reasons, a lost passcode cannot be recovered.

Face ID and face data

Afterglow does not collect, store, process, retain or transmit face data of any kind.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual entries or perform a full reset from Settings, which permanently removes all data from the device (and, if Health sync is on, the Health samples Afterglow wrote).

Children

Afterglow is intended for adults (17+) and is not designed for children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
